I'm in a cheerful mood...............

As I've mentioned before I love wearing black clothes, as I love the way it contrasts with my skin tone. I've been trying to acquire bright coloured clothing to add to my wardrobe.

I was in a cheerful mood and wanted to go all out with wearing colour, instead my usual adding colourful accents.

I've been wanting to wear this dress for a while. It's sleeveless but that wasn't going to stop me. I thought pink goes with yellow, so I picked this cardigan. I also love to wear three colours if I can and wanted an accessory that was bright but also contrasting. My final task was to select a shoe that would complement the whole ensemble. What better than nude/cream shoes?

Perfection!!!

Houndstooth with a dash of pink

I love wearing black clothes and especially black and white.

I put this dress on and thought I'd jazz it up with a bit of colour. I didn't want to do the usual red so saw this cardigan and it was perfect!!.

I got some new tools to improve the quality of my blog ^_^

I love blogging. I love expressing my point of  view and just putting my thoughts out there. I've stifled my creativity & true passions long enough anf have figured out a few things along the way. Not to mention, I wish I could get a TV show and do this full time like Courtney Kerr. I truly enjoy posting entries.

I subscribe to a number of blogs myself and been thinking about how to improve.

Taking pictures has been such a pain for me as I usually don't have anyone around to take pictures of my outfits. I would use my camera and use the self timer but getting the right height and distance and getting my whole body in the shot often proved difficult. It would sometimes take me up to 30 minutes to get one decent shot. This kind of demotivated me from taking pictures. I've worn a lot of blog-worthy outfits to work over the last few months but just couldn't be bothered with it.

I love to blog so I thought I need to take these pictures. I got the following new toys/tools recently and look forward to using them and posting better pictures in my effort to make my blog better.

Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards Jan 2014

The SAG awards was held on January 18, 2014. The night was filled with more hits than misses and it sure was a delight.

**BEST DRESSED FOR THE NIGHT**
Lupita is GAW-GEOUS!!! OMG. What a beautiful colour on her skin. She has such beautiful skin.
I'm so happy to people are acknowledging her beauty especially despite her race.

Julia Roberts looks so great in this pink Valentino
jumpsuit. Yes that's right a jumpsuit. It's fab!!!
Elegance personified!

Cate Blanchett doesn't shy away from light colours despite her skin tone. She's lovely in Givenchy.

This lady is such a fashionista. She's pregnant, wearing a crop top & showing skin- talk about daring!

Amy Adams looks great in this jewel toned dress by Antonio Berardi

Michele Dockery is wearing 2 hot trends- black & white and colour blocking. I'm a huge fan of both.

Sofia is known for wearing a statement necklace with body hugging dress. She accentuates her assets- if it ain't broke.......

Jennifer Lawrence plays it a little safe in this Dior dress.

Camilla & Matthew are giving Brad & Angie a run for their money as most stylish & beautiful couple on the red carpet.

I like this dress on Claire Danes- it's different!

This woman has been hitting it out of the park every single time for a while now. Love Sandy!!!
Love the shoes.

Lovely colour

Not so sure about this dress for this event.....

 **BLATANT FASHION OFFENDERS**

What is this? Seriously?! The lace and colour are lovely but on Mayim it just looks wrong.
Maybe if the sleeves were capped and the edge of the lace hit the waist a bit higher to create a longer visual line.....maybe.

I'm sorry where did Julianne think she was going? To a corporate luncheon. She just needs a jacket! Tres drab! In the words of Andre Leon Talley- "dreckitude".
This isn't so bad but not the right dress for this event... or is it the shoes?......

The Golden Globes 2014

The Golden Globe Awards were held last night. This is the start of awards season...(cue angelic sounds).

For us Fashionistas this is like our crack. This is where all the A-lists pull out all the stops. Some persons also not so known, they can get added attention from the right dress choice. For the actresses that are not married, it's like their wedding day. The dress is uber important. If they are lucky enough, they can have their 'wedding day' every year and several times for the year during awards season.

I'm here awaiting Joan Rivers' et al comments on Fashion Police tonight. This is must see TV for me ^_^.

Here are some of my favourites:

My best dressed for the night. Lupita is GORGEOUS.
Talk about the right colour and I love Ralph Lauren.

Simply elegant.

Starlets that are preggers were truly glowing.

Sophia is always one to watch and I'm happy she deviated from the usual mermaid dress.

Love this girl. The face of Dior, I wonder who designed this dress? Hmm....

A rather different look but Elizabeth Moss hit it out of the park.

Taylor looks like Taylor usually does.....

Lovely ladies in black and white.

This is the best fashion daring choice to me on the red carpet last night. Go Emma!

Hmm, I'm not too sure about this dress for the Golden Globes. Paula is beautiful but I think this dress should have been for an event like the Met Gala. She looks great though.

Pretty ladies in red.

Lena Dunham looked so great.
Sandy always does it right. Did you know that she & Julia Roberts share the same stylist?
Julia looks great. What an odd but great choice to pair a strapless dress with an oxford shirt!

Lovely ladies in metallics
I wait with bated breath for the next award show this weekend- the SAG awards.

Fashion emergencies- be prepared :)

We never know when we are going to have a fashion emergency. What do I mean by fashion emergency you may ask? I mean an accident that ruins the style, look or uniformity of an outfit. For instance, being at work at your shoe strap bursts or your skirt hem gets loose or a strap for your top bursts? OMG.

This happened to me this morning. As I was going to work and getting into my car, I twisted my ankle a bit but figured everything was ok. I did check if all the areas of the shoe were fine. I got out of my car and got to my desk, only to see that one of the straps was indeed was out of place. Sigh. I live close to my office but couldn't go home and get another shoe to match my outfit. Luckily I have silver flats at my desk and wore those for the day.

You can't go home or leave where you are, what do you do? Here are a few tips:

  • SAFETY PINS &/OR SEWING KIT. They come in handy if a strap on your top bursts, a hem or a seam becomes undone. They are also handy if your shirt is gaping. Double stick tape also works great for gaping shirts.
  • HAIR PINS &/OR BANDS. These are good for hair messes, as well as a brush and/or comb in your bag. A mirror would also be good. If you have a compact that you use for your makeup, it can be used to fix your hair as well. Short on space – go for one of those cute brushes that fold up in a compact.

  • CLEAR NAIL POLISH. You could have in your handbag or at your desk for stocking/pantyhose runs/snags I rarely ever wear them without it running on the first wear. I'm kind of clumsy sometimes & taking it off and never wearing it again is wasting money. If it's not a bad run you can dab a small amount of clear nail polish on it to prevent it being worse. Literally to stop it right in its tracks. ^_^. I also have an extra pair of stockings in my desk.
  • EXTRA PAIR OF SHOES. I have 2 pairs of flats that I keep at my desk- silver and black. These are not just for shoes bursting but also I wear heels and sometimes they hurt so instead of suffering I just switch to my flats. There's a joke in my office that they'll see pass by at a certain height then another time I'm shorter ^_^. I also have black and brown heels in the car.

  • STAIN REMOVER PEN. As I mentioned earlier, I'm a bit of a clutz and food stains are par for the course for me. If wearing a bib as an adult was socially acceptable I wouldn’t have this issue. Since it’s not, I so happy when stain remover pens became available- they are cheaper and of course easy to carry.

They even have fashion emergency kits for sale. The Hollywood Fashion Emergency Kit is purse-sized, and contains Fashion Tape assortment sample pack, Deodorant-Removing Sponge, Lint-Removing Sheets, Sewing Kit, Stain Wipe, Earring Back, Instant Button, Hair Band, Nail File, Blister Pad and Shoe-Shine Sponge.
Hollywood Fashion Emergency Kit US$14.99

I  have all these items except the deodorant-removing sponge. I have a lint brush & shoe shine sponge (I got this from a hotel) at my desk. I have a sewing kit, a nail file, fashion tape, wipes & earring backs (I make jewellery so I have or you could take from another set of earrings) in my handbag.
