Heybabycakes Cupcakes

Another way I express myself artistically is through cooking and I've explored ways I could earn some money while doing something I really and truly love (art). I came up with cupcakes. They are all the rage in the US but it hasn't quite caught on as much as Jamaica. This was my opportunity so I started Heybabycakes Cupcakes Jamaica with 2 friends in 2011.

Now it's just me as one friend migrated and the other's full time job was just too demanding along with her other responsibilities. I thought I'd continue on and take an order here and there for the additional income- no matter how small.

I especially enjoy decorating & baking as I get to taste as I go along. ^_^. I try to differentiate myself by doing cupcake bouquets & pull apart cakes.

Check it out & place an order today ^_^.

I just love being creative!

Express yourself don't repress yourself....Watermelon

I was feeling for colour on top & bottom when I chose this outfit. Sometimes I try to tone down my outfits for work as conservative is the name of the game in my industry. That mostly translates to boring & plain.

I try to jazz it though & break the mold and be different thereby expressing myself. I have tried to add a lot more colour to my wardrobe in the last year. In my previous job I wore uniforms and was highly limited but I showed off my fashion sense through my shoes.

In the words of Madonna "...express yourself don't repress yourself..."

Top - Agaci (US$10)

Fuschia- the new pink!

I'm not a girly girl, in the sense that I love the colour pink. That may be hard to believe but I actually don't as during puberty I was a tom boy.

When I saw this sweater though, I loved how rich the colour was. I also liked that it wasn't pastel pink- way too girly (LOL it's still pink!).

I started with the shoes when putting together this ensemble . Now these are statement shoes- colour blocked. So I paired them with my grey pants and wanted it to be a bit monochromatic and chose this grey top. I had the green statement necklace and I thought perfect as it wasn't the exact shade as the shoe. The whole thing was too matchy matchy with the shoes though. I decided I needed another colour- a contrasting colour.

It's funny sometimes how you can make what you already have in your wardrobe, how a new outfit can be created & how everything just comes together. My guide when accessorizing or picking my outfits is to have at least 3 colours.

Sweater- Gap Outlet (US$13, sale)
Pants- Charlotte Russe (US$10, sale)

~* Ronz Jewellery *~

Hi everyone,

Been MIA for a while. I was in NYC for a bit with my mom & sister. My grandmother died & I've been hiding in a way. She was my heart, one of my most favourite persons.

So I'm back!!!! ^_^.

As my profile says I'm an artist at heart and find ways to express myself. One way in which I do this is through my handmade beaded jewellery.

Always having a flair for the arts, I honed my talent at the CXC level (high school) doing visual arts. Not wanting to be a ‘starving artist’ however I chose to have a more traditional career in the financial sector, as in Jamaica being a successful artist is VERY hard & the market is very small. Never giving up my love for being creative though, I decided to concentrate on another aspect of art by turning to crafts. After years of buying beaded jewellery, I decided to make jewellery for myself and for my friends as gifts. After getting many compliments and inquiries ‘Ronz Jewellery’ was born in 2003. However not having the necessary business savvy to compliment my creative skills in a difficult and competitive market, the business failed and I decided to focus solely on completing my degree. After graduating and working for a couple years I used the business skills I learnt while attending the University of Technology to later relaunch in 2009.

It hasn't been an easy road as there is so much competition & I have a full time job and juggling so many things, I haven't quite given up.
