Purple & Grey

My father went to Kingston College and growing up it's been about the school colors purple and white. If I was a boy I would have gone to the all boys school. Fortis!

Despite having the right hardware, I love the color purple.

I love this shirt and even more so these shoes. I decided to wear 2 shades of purple to not be too matchy matchy.

Orchid

This top reminds me of an orchid, a phalaenopsis to be exact.

I love orchids. I used to have a few. I don't really have a green thumb although I had some for months and they would bloom several times. They all died eventually though. I did try though. Sigh. I had spent quite a bit of money on them. Now I just package and sell them: OrchidBloom .

I am a certified hustler. I love doing anything artistic-Ronz Jewellery & Heybabycakes Cupcakes. I am a creative person, that much I know.

I just finished a cake baking course, to brush up on my skills. I'm about to start a fondant decorating course in about 2 weeks. I'm so excited. I truly enjoy these classes even though they are taking up my precious and little free time, but I love being able to express myself creatively. It's where I can be my true self.

To the max!

In a previous post,, I mentioned I bought another maxi dress on sale at Charlotte Russe. I had gotten this one as well.

Even though I'm short, I wasn't feeling in the mood to wear heels, so I wore the dress with sandals and I must say I liked it. I'm a maxi dress convert! ^_^

Prints are great. The key is to chose a print that will last beyond just what's in season & also incorporates several colours. This ensures you can get more mileage out of the item as well as the money you spent on it.

One has to be very careful buying items that are trendy. Once it's not in style anymore, will you wear it? If you can answer yes then it's a good buy. If you're like me and on a budget, you need clothes that will last and that you will wear until you just can't anymore or you get tired of it.

Another good thing is that in fashion what is old will be new eventually in 5 years or more. I will do a post on that another time but it's amazing to see. This comes with old age however- LOL.

Peachy keen

Statement necklaces are a great way to add some pizazz to an outfit- they make a statement.

I love this sweater, it's so warm and perfect for my office, as it's so cold sometimes.

Animal Print & Fuschia

I love me some animal print. ^_^

I wanted to add some colour to this outfit, to brighten it up. I added this cardigan. I love cardigans. They are appropriate for work and aren't rigid. hey also come in very handy for me as this top is actually sleeveless and I wouldn't be able to wear it to work ordinarily. They can add some more mileage to your wardrobe.

Green with Animal Print

I love wearing animal print. From my blog posts, my outfits often include animal print.

I could have paired this with red, as most people do, but I usually don't do what everyone else does.

On a side note, I love being different. Normal is so overdone. I used to hate being different as a teenager but as I grew older, I accepted my uniqueness and I revel in it. ^_^. I love being creatively different and unexpected with my fashion choices.

I wore my crocs with this outfit as my ankle was injured.

Tribal Maxi Dress

I love this dress. I saw it on the sale rack at Charlotte Russe and had to have it. I did hesitate a bit as it's a maxi dress. I am short (5" 3.75', yes the .75 counts ;)), have wide hips & a dress especially with a print like this can make me look wider and shorten me even more. Thank God for heels as they help in creating an illusion of elongating me which helps to make me look slimmer. Who doesn't want that? ^_^

I don't like to show too much cleavage so I wore a tube top seeing that the dress had a low neckline. Improvise!

I was going out for frozen yogurt with my friends to celebrate one of them getting a new job. I had such a good time. My ankle was still recovering so I wore my ankle brace- that's the black thing peeping out.

Tribal & animal

I don't know if it's all the Jersey shows I've watched (Jerseylicious, Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of New Jersey, etc) why I've been loving animal print more and more, but I do.

Tribal print is also been trending for the last year or so. So "let our powers combine" they said. LOL. Those who used to watch the cartoon Captain Planet should get the reference. ^_^.

I've mentioned in other posts that I sometimes wear sleeveless tops to work to extend my work wardrobe. I can't wear sleeveless to work so I wore a cardigan with it.

I'm so pleased now as I can wear heels. I went to another doctor, a specialist, and he told me that wearing flats (for the 2 months) was actually not good for the shape of my foot and that I was to wear 1-2 inch heels. It was a miracle as I had been in flats for 2 months, had pain & discomfort and I didn't need to be. But now I know at least :).  I still have to be a little careful but I'm back in my heels. Yay!

Ladybug

I always like to be a bit different in anything I do. A lot of people wear black, white & red together. I thought though that I would wear this animal print top with the ensemble to make it not so 'done'. I especially loved the ladylike detail of the bow.

I started selecting the pieces of this outfit with the shoes. This was my first time wearing them. Most times I choose my shoes last but by doing so I usually end up wearing the black, bronze or grey shoes- my go-to pairs. I have so many other shoes that sometimes I have to make an effort to remember to wear them and as such I started with the shoes then choose everything else.

New year & I'm no shrinking violet ;)

This was my second time wearing this dress. I had worn it to a wedding the year before. I was heading to a New Year's Day party, Frenchmen. I thought that since no one at the wedding probably would be there plus it had been a year, that it's be ok to recycle this dress.

Here's the outfit the year before. LOL I had some of the same accessories.

Coral princess

I love wearing black clothes, but as I've mentioned before, but I am trying to acquire and wear more colour.

One of the colours I'm obsesses with is coral. I have quite a few items in coral. I just love it!!!!

I wore this outfit to a NYE house party.

I'm in a cheerful mood...............

As I've mentioned before I love wearing black clothes, as I love the way it contrasts with my skin tone. I've been trying to acquire bright coloured clothing to add to my wardrobe.

I was in a cheerful mood and wanted to go all out with wearing colour, instead my usual adding colourful accents.

I've been wanting to wear this dress for a while. It's sleeveless but that wasn't going to stop me. I thought pink goes with yellow, so I picked this cardigan. I also love to wear three colours if I can and wanted an accessory that was bright but also contrasting. My final task was to select a shoe that would complement the whole ensemble. What better than nude/cream shoes?

Perfection!!!

Leggings: friend or foe?

I am ‘bottom heavy’ to say the least, so when the leggings trend hit the fashion world I wasn’t too keen on them. Not to mention the printed ones. Leggings really though is just long tights- as with many things in fashion, it's just a twist on a previous trend. I am pretty wide and didn’t think I leggings were for me as I don’t like clothes that are that fitted and accentuate all my curves and I mean all of them.
I did buy the plain ones and felt comfortable wearing them with long tops that cover my butt at least. Like Kourtney Kardashian, I have to “CTC” (Cover the Camel). I don’t want to look like the Prancerise Lady with a huge camel toe.
It took me a while to be brave enough to wear leggings not to mention wearing printed ones. I loved the tribal prints and kept seeing girls wearing them and after a while I bought one. I went to AGACI in Sawgrass Mills and the store clerk had on a pair. My mother suggested that I get one too as she looked good in it & they were sold in the store (there is something to store employees wearing clothes sold at the store- living mannequins). First off I was like, I’m bigger than her, it might not look so cute on me but she insisted and even bought a pair for herself. To my surprise they actually stretched enough to fit -thank God for stretch material, as they also help to keep everything in check ;).
The moral of the story is don’t wear something because it’s the thing to wear now but wear what you are comfortable in. On the other hand, sometimes we have to go a little outside of our comfort zone.
Well I kind of was still in my comfort zone as I wore a long top ^_^.

Conclusion: Leggings are a friend if you are comfortable in them.
Wore this to a Retro party YUSH 2012. Thought I looked the part, kind of a 80s Dancehall look.

Fuschia- the new pink!

I'm not a girly girl, in the sense that I love the colour pink. That may be hard to believe but I actually don't as during puberty I was a tom boy.

When I saw this sweater though, I loved how rich the colour was. I also liked that it wasn't pastel pink- way too girly (LOL it's still pink!).

I started with the shoes when putting together this ensemble . Now these are statement shoes- colour blocked. So I paired them with my grey pants and wanted it to be a bit monochromatic and chose this grey top. I had the green statement necklace and I thought perfect as it wasn't the exact shade as the shoe. The whole thing was too matchy matchy with the shoes though. I decided I needed another colour- a contrasting colour.

It's funny sometimes how you can make what you already have in your wardrobe, how a new outfit can be created & how everything just comes together. My guide when accessorizing or picking my outfits is to have at least 3 colours.

Grecian goddess

Forgive me on the title , it may seem like I'm full of it, but it was the look I was going for when I put on this dress.

I was on my way to a party- Daydreams 2012. Daydreams is a traditionally beach party but this venue wasn't exactly at the beach but had an ocean view. Patrons could come dressed in beach wear or a little more dressed up- not the clubby kind of party dress code-wise. I wasn't feeling confident enough nor could I bother with wearing swimwear. I paired the dress with some coral and peach gold earrings for a contrasting effect.

Also hadn't worn my Michele watch I got as a gift. Too expensive for every day wear, I had it for a while and thought why not bring it out for this party.
