Frugal tip: Think before you buy

Think before you buy something.

I have taken up things on stores and put things in my shopping cart online, only to put them back or leave it I think about my budget, how much I've spent to date for the month, how much I have left to spend and other goals I have. I think do I really need another tan color shoe when I already have like 5. Seriously I already have about 5.... or maybe more. lol.

The point is I have learnt to talk myself out of purchases. Now sometimes I'm like yes I do need another sandals when it has been a while since I treated myself to something and it's at such a good sale price. Be wary of clearance and sale items. If you really don't need it, don't buy it. You can off course stock up on things if you will be using it in the future. You can budget for these sales as certain items go on sale at different times of the year. At the last Bath & Body works sale, I bought about $50 worth of items. I knew I'd be buying throughout the year for hand soaps and I can use items as gifts.

There is an opportunity cost for every dollar you spend. What I mean is that dollar you spend could be used for something else and you're giving that up.

Stop, think and don't spend.
